so jonathan, what explains the fair haired that traditionally live(d) on the northern island of japan? and i think all the photos i've seen of eskimos in the VERY far north are dark skinned. and yet, scandinavians are fair. native american indians seem to also be dark skinned. hmmm/
That map looks bogus to me. It doesn't make any sense based on migrations. Simple case: United States. Also, European variations in skin tone would have evolved before the split into all of the Caucasian ethnic groups. The East is generally fairer than the West, and Scandinavians are really no fairer -- in fact, here there exists a high incidence of swarthiness.
